AIRPORT ARRIVAL AND TRANSPORTATION
 
After you pass through customs and are exiting the arrival area at the Cancun airport, you will may be offered little bags with publicity magazines, Cancun Tips.  These come in handy if you are planning to travel around as they have maps of Cancun, Playa, Cozumel, etc. 
 
Also, you may be offered free tours or discount rental cars at several booths in the airport which appear to be tourist information booths.  These are marketing fronts for time-share sales at beach resorts.  If you pay a deposit to any of these, you will have to spend at least 4 hours at the hotel listening to a sales pitch before you can collect your discounted offer.  Just be aware!
 
If you are planning to end your travels at Rancho, please be note  that taxis from Rancho to the airport cost half the price at around $25.  The village has a plenty of taxis, available at all hours with advance notice, so you need not feel pressured to book a return taxi when you are just arriving. 
 
Taxis are strictly controlled in the Cancun area, so taxis that bring you from the airport are not allowed to solicit return fares from Puerto Morelos.
 
Collective vans around $15.
 
Taxi from airport to Puerto Morelos, around $40 - 45, due to airport fees.
 
Return taxi from Puerto Morelos to airport costs around $25. 
Early morning taxis before 7:30 can booked the day before your departure with no problem.

DIRECT:  AIRPORT / PUERTO MORELOS 

 

Ticket counter located in airport in National Terminal.  
Walk out of the international terminal, turn right.
Walk to the end of the building to the National Terminal. 
Enter the national terminal to find bus ticketing counter - Riviera  Buses.
 

25 minutes, 35 pesos about $3.50

 

Airport to Puerto Morelos departure times:

 

9:15  /  10:45  /  11:45  /  12:45  /  13:45  

 

14:45   /   15:45  /    16:45    /  17:45    /  19:00    /  20:30

 

When you arrive at Puerto Morelos Bus Office on highway, catch a taxi to the hotel, around 30 pesos/$3. 

 

If you do not see any  taxis, you should be able to catch one at the gas station on the corner by the stoplights or cross the highway at the stoplights and you will see the taxi stand in front of you directly across from the gas station.

 

Driving Instructions from Cancun Airport
 
Leave airport,  Sur, Mex 307,  divided highway, 4 lanes
 
Direction:  South (Sur), Chetumal, Playa del Carmen, Xcaret
 
Approximately 20 minutes, pass the Retorno Cancun, then see sign to right for Puerto Morelos.  Highway divides, stay to center lanes, to your left.
 
Approach stoplights in left lane.
 
Turn left at stoplights. 
 
About 2 km,  approaching town, turn right first street.
 
Almost immediately, turn right onto unpaved road.
 
(If you miss this turn, pass over speed bump, turn right at stop sign, then turn right again at next street by church.  The unpaved road will be in front of you.)
 
About 2 km, see signs for Rancho Libertad along the way.
 
Turn left into Rancho at sign.
 
Park car in space provided in front of office.
